Can You use Any USB-C Cable for MacBook?
In theory, all USB-C cables should be the same: this is the whole point of having a standard. In practice, there are different versions of the standard.
Some non-compliant cables simply cannot provide the full speeds. It even damages the USB port in the MacBook.
1. Insist on using trusted and well-known brands. Apple is obvious. Hyphen-X is another brand you can trust and is cheaper.
2. Look for the SuperSpeed+ (SS+) logo. However, not all cables use the full logo, and it may not be possible to distinguish the old SS from the new SS+ label. Some also use SS and 10 to represent 10gbps instead of SS+
